QUOTE: "That government is best which governs the least, because its people discipline themselves."

  • What is comming in PD Legislation
Read what the government have planned for us on the new Permitted Development rights for commercial buildings.
  • Government spin on the new Permitted Development
Read what the government have said on this latest piece of planning legislation. Have they got it right with a clear and concise piece planning rules relating to permitted development or is another peice of half baked set of rules designed to create confusion and costs to the ordinary homeowner.
  • Royal Town Planning Institutes opinion
The town planners at your Council normally belong to the RTPI as their profesional body. Read their take on the new permitted development rights and judge for yourself if it will have the desired effect of allowing homeowners to build more onto their properties without the need for formal planning permission. Will this free up the planning system?
  • The Planning Service agricultural buildings
The purpose of this consultation is to obtain views on a possible change to planning permitted development rights to facilitate compliance with the action programme being finalised by the Department of the Environment (DOE) and the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) for implementation of the Nitrates Directive. Nothing to do with residential development but an interesting piece.
  • Architecture and design Service
Housing and Planning Minister Caroline Flint has today announced revisions to the Permitted Development Rules which will affect anyone wishing to build modest rear extensions to a domestic property or convert their loft afetr 1st October 2008. However, these changes are not as straightforward as the Minister suggests and householders should continue to seek qualified professional advice before undertaking such an extension.
  • Communities and Local Government
Improving your home just became a whole lot easier for tens of thousands of families Housing and Planning Minister Caroline Flint announced today. Following regulations laid on the 10 September the new planning rules coming in effect today mean that the majority of homeowners will no longer need to get planning permission to extend their home.
